HC division bench declines specific orders over film ticket price hike plea

The Telangana High Court on Wednesday declined to grant any specific relief to the producers of two yet-to-be released Telugu films Raja Saab and Mana Shanakar Prasad Gaaru who sought a direction to permit enhancement of ticket rates.

The bench of Justices Moushumi Bhattacharya and Gadi Praveen Kumar, after hearing a plea filed by the two film producers, said the earlier single judge order setting aside government order enhancing theatre ticket prices was confined to the films of OG, Gamechanger and Pushpa-2. The present plea was filed by the producers seeking a direction to the government to allow hiking of theatre ticket prices for the two movies casting actors Chiranjeevi and Prabhas in the main roles.

Earlier, the single judge bench declared the permission granted by the government permitting enhancement of ticket rates for the films OG, Gamechanger and Pushpa-2. With this direction coming in the way of applications for enhancement of theatre ticket prices, the film producers moved the HC.
