A 74-year-old woman was robbed of a five-sovereign gold chain worth around ₹6 lakh by two unidentified men on a motorcycle who pretended to ask for directions near Sevvapet. Police said the victim, Gajalakshmi, 74, a resident of Perumalpattu near Tiruvallur, was on her way to a nearby temple when the incident took place. The suspects, both wearing helmets, approached her on a bike and asked for directions to the temple. As she responded, one of them suddenly snatched the chain from her neck.
