Two persons were killed after a tractor carrying farmland manure overturned and fell into a pond near 4th Mile Camp in Sindhanur taluk on Saturday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Virupangouda Ayyanagouda, 50, a resident of 4th Mile Camp, and Sukhamuniyappa Santeer, 30, of Virupapur village. According to the police, the victims were transporting manure to farmland when the tractor lost balance and overturned mid-way, plunging into a nearby pond. As the vehicle fell along with the load, both men were trapped and drowned in the water. Personnel from the Rural Police Station visited the spot and shifted the bodies to a local government hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
