M. Boominathan. S. Manimaran. The DMK has nominated its party district secretaries G Thalapathi and Sedapatti M. Manimaran to contest from the Madurai North Assembly Constituency and Thirumangalam Assembly Constituency. While the AIADMK has announced the name of Saravanan as its candidate for Madurai North, the DMK candidate Mr. Manimaran is taking on AIADMK sitting MLA and former Minister R.B. Udahyakumar in Thirumangalam. In Melur, the AIADMK has fielded Periapullan, a sitting MLA, while the DMK has earmarked the seat to its ally the Indian National Congress. In Madurai West, the AIADMK has given ticket to its senior member Sellur K Raju and the ruling party DMK has named Ragu Balaji, a practising advocate in the High Court and a staunch supporter of Minister P. Moorthy. In Thiruparankundram, Kruthika Thangapandi is the DMK candidate and she will take on veteran V.V. Rajan Chellappa of the AIADMK. In Sholavandan, sitting MLA A. Venkatesan of the DMK has been renominated and the AIADMK has given a chance to its former MLA Manickam, who has a strong base in the party and in the constituency.
