Five young men, including a policeman, were booked by the Gachibowli police late on Tuesday night after they were found consuming ganja during a drug and liquor party at a service apartment in Masjid Banda.

Police said that acting on a tip-off received around 11.30 p.m. on January 6, a team rushed to Kovastay in Gachibowli and found a group of five persons hosting a party involving drugs and alcohol.

The accused were identified as Telagatoti Ravi Teja, 28, a constable attached with the City Armed Reserve, Hyderabad and a resident of Begumpet police quarters; Tanguturi Thejeswar Reddy, 28, a food and beverage manager at a hotel in KPHB; Methukupally Sai Prasad Reddy, 28, a resident of Ramantapur; Thanikonda Ramesh, 27, from Doyens Colony in Serilingampally; and Vallab Megender Reddy, 29, an event organiser residing in OU Colony, Manikonda.

Police conducted on-the-spot drug tests using testing kits, which confirmed that all five had consumed ganja. Based on the results, a case was registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

The police said that the Forensic Science Laboratory report is awaited and further investigation is under way.
