The South, West, and North city corporations on Saturday (March 28) unveiled a set of road infrastructure projects in their 2026–27 budgets, with a focus on road widening, junction improvements, and large-scale upgrades aimed at easing congestion and improving mobility.

In the South Corporation, an allocation of ₹50.45 crore has been earmarked for land acquisition linked to road widening, grade separators, and junction development. Among the major projects, Bannerghatta Road, from Dairy Circle to NICE Road, is set to be developed during the financial year.

Key widening works include the Subramanyapura Road stretch from Banashankari Temple to Outer Ring Road (₹20 crore) and the Begur Main Road to Begur Koppa Road corridor (₹40 crore). In addition, ₹50 crore has been specifically allocated for widening roads identified under the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP).

The South corporation has also proposed ₹433 crore for large-scale upgradation of arterial, sub-arterial, and ward roads under various schemes, focusing on scientific asphalting, integrated drainage and junction improvements. Plans for grade separators at Jayanagar Raghavendra Swamy Temple Junction and Vega City Junction have also been outlined in the budget.

West Corporation: Extensive road widening projects

The West Corporation has outlined extensive road widening projects, with ₹20 crore earmarked for land acquisition and ₹8 crore for widening key roads. Several corridors, including Ittamadu Road, Kurubarahalli Main Road, Mahalaxmipur Access Road, and Thyagarajanagar Main Road, are set to be widened significantly, doubling carriageway width in some cases. A separate ₹2 crore has been earmarked for widening at the congested Goraguntepalya Junction on Tumkur Road.

The West Corporation has also allocated ₹667.74 crore for arterial and sub-arterial road development, and ₹317.25 crore for developing 174.49 km of ward roads.

North Corporation: Road widening across 30.5 km

Meanwhile, the North Corporation has planned a road widening project across 30.5 km, covering 12 roads under RMP-2015. Works on 22.5 km across eight roads, including Tannery Road, Bagalur Main Road, and Jakkur Double Road, are set for completion, while new widening of 7.95 km across four roads such as Hennur–Bagalur Road and Dasarahalli Main Road has been proposed with ₹25 crore allocation, the North Corporation budget states.

The North Corporation has also committed significant investments in road development, including over ₹670 crore for ward, main and arterial roads, alongside dedicated ward-level allocations for pothole filling, traffic works and maintenance.
