Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will again contest from four Assembly constituencies in Virudhunagar district.

The ruling party has retained three out of the four sitting MLAs from the district.

State Ministers and party district secretaries, K. K. S. S. R. Ramachandran (Aruppukottai AC) and Thangam Thennarasu (Tiruchuli AC) and S. Thangapandian (Rajapalayam AC) have been given another chance to contest from their respective constituencies.

However, the party has left out, A. R. R. Srinivasan, who had won from Virudhunagar Assembly constituency, after the assembly seat was allocated to the alliance party, DMDK.

But, the DMK has got back Sattur Assembly seat which was allocated and won by the MDMK (A.R.R. Raghuraman) in 2021 Assembly seat. The ruling party is now fielding, A. Kadarkarairaj from Sattur AC, from which BJP State president, Nainar Nagenthran, is likely to contest.

He had earlier contested the Lok Sabha poll from Virudhunagar Parliamentary constituency, comprising Virudhunagar AC in 2024. He had lost to the Congress.

Congress has retained the Sivakasi AC from where its candidate, G. Ashokan, had emerged successfully in 2021. However, the national party was denied the Srivilliputtur (SC) AC, which the party had lost in the previous election.

The Srivilliputtur AC has been now allotted to Communist Party of India. Its candidate, V. Ponnupandi had won the reserved seat in 2011.

The candidates for Sivakasi and Srivilliputtur Assembly seats are yet to be announced.
