In a move aimed at easing congestion and improving road safety, the Malkajgiri police have imposed sweeping restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles across several major corridors, flyovers and junctions within the commissionerate limits. The order, issued by the Commissioner of Police Avinash Mohanty on Saturday (March 28, 2026), will come into force from April 1. The restrictions will be enforced from 11.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. and again from 10.30 p.m. to 7.30 a.m. Under the new rules, heavy and medium motor vehicles such as lorries, tippers, tankers, RMC vehicles, water tankers, private buses, tractors with trailers and vehicles with more than six wheels will be barred from entering several arterial routes during designated hours.
