A. Maharajan and A. Logirajan hailing from the same family are once again in the electoral battle representing the DMK and the AIADMK for the third consecutive time. The maiden entry into the poll was during the 2019 by-poll, when A. Maharajan (the elder brother) emerged victorious. The second time, in 2021 general election, Mr Maharajan won against his younger brother by over a margin of 8,500 votes. Now, for the third time, the respective Dravidian parties have announced the names of the two brothers. A. While the AIADMK cadre said that the voters were upset over the poor governance of the DMK and thus would vote for Mr Logirajan. “The people have decided not to disappoint the younger brother for the third time with a defeat….” the functionaries added. However, in the DMK camp, they were rest assured of a hat-rick this time as Mr Maharajan had rendered numerous works in the constituency in the last five years. The AIADMK managers said that the intra-party feud in the DMK had touched a new high and recalled the open fight between Mr Maharajan and Theni DMK MP Thanga Tamil Selvan at a government function recently in which the Theni District Collector Ranjith Singh and other officials were present. Similarly, they said that the hardcore DMK cadre and leaders including Minister I Periasamy had expressed displeasure over the entry of former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam. With the AMMK’s support, which is looked as a major factor, the AIADMK functionaries said that they would win Andipatti this time.
