The Prathipadu police on Saturday seized 605 kg of animal fat that was being transported for oil extraction. The accused was carrying the consignment in an autorickshaw for storage near Routhulapudi village in Kakinada district. In an official release, Prathipadu Circle Inspector S. Surya Apparao said, “The accused, identified as A. Suresh, 38, confessed that he had procured the animal fat from Chebrolu village and other sources for supply to units involved in oil extraction.” The police caught the accused while he was transporting the animal fat in 27 boxes in his autorickshaw from Chendurthi village to Kotananduru, where he intended to store it for sale. “We have registered a case against the accused and investigation is under way to trace other stakeholders involved in the extraction of oil from animal fat,” Mr. Surya Apparao added.
