The initiative was formally inaugurated at Doddakere Maidan, where MCC Commissioner Sheikh Tanveer Asif flagged off vehicles deployed for the operation. Emphasising that cleanliness and environmental protection are a shared responsibility, he called upon citizens and organisations to actively participate in keeping the city clean and green. Superintendent engineer Manju C.S., executive engineers Madhusudan, Srinivas, Ashwin and Mrutyunjaya guided the implementation of the mega drive. Assistant executive engineers Meenakshi, Nagarajegowda and Ravi, along with Zonal Commissioner Pratibha and Development Officer Sathyamurthy, supervised the operations. Environmental engineers, health inspectors, and engineering staff of the MCC, along with personnel from the vehicle division, supported the campaign through mechanised cleaning efforts. Members of various non-governmental organisations, school and college students, and citizen groups also joined the initiative, taking up cleaning activities along stretches of the ring road in their respective areas. The large-scale drive has been taken up by the MCC with the support of town panchayats in the city, as the heaps of trash dumped along the vacant spaces along the stretch were posing a health hazard and marred the city’s clean image. Despite the MCC’s appeal and warnings, dumping has not stopped, causing a great deal of inconvenience to the residents of localities close to the ORR.
