Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) chief Ake Ravikrishna on Saturday (March 28) said they have begun Operation Vajraprahar, Operation Safe Campus and Operation Garuda to crackdown on ganja and drug use in the State.

Mr. Ravikrishna unveiled the ‘Drugs vaddu bro’ (Say no to drugs, brother) posters at a programme held at G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College in Kurnool. Addressing students, Mr. Ravikrishna said the programme is aimed at spreading awareness on the ill-effects of drug abuse. He said they are aiming to reach out to 70 lakh students through the programme.

He said 101 persons have been booked under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988 and sent to judicial remand.

Mr. Ravikrishna said that the assets of drug peddlers would be confiscated. He said they are using data collected over 12 years and had brought in the narcotic offenders tracing system as part of Operation Vajraprahar to crackdown on drug peddlers.
