A reported incident of a stone being found in lemon rice served at the drivers and customers’ canteen at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has sparked a dispute between the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers’ Union (TGPWU) and airport authorities.

Raising the issue, the union on Friday, March 27, claimed that the food was served in a plastic cover and that the presence of a stone raises serious concerns about safety standards at a major international airport. They alleged that the incident reflects continued negligence in food quality and hygiene at the canteen, which is used daily by thousands of drivers and passengers.
