With the Central government asking commercial cylinder users to register their willingness for Piped Natural Gas connection (PNG) to avail of additional commercial LPG cylinders, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Coimbatore say multiple factors will decide the willingness of the MSMEs to switch over to PNG.

“Will it be possible to lay pipelines in all areas where the micro and small-scale industries are located,” asked R. Ramamurthy, former president of the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA). However, if it is possible to lay the pipeline and if supply of natural gas is possible, the industries will switch over to PNG. They will not mind investing in the required equipment at the factories, he added.
