O. Panneerselvam. File | Photo Credit: L. Balachandar Former Chief Minister O. Panneeselvam, who recently joined the DMK, will contest from the Bodinayakanur Assembly constituency. Similarly, R. Vaithilingam, former AIADMK Minister and a supporter of Mr. Panneerselvam, will contest from the Orathanadu constituency. He also joined the DMK in January, 2026. The list of candidates was announced by DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday (March 28, 2026). Manoj Pandian, another supporter of Mr. Panneerselvam, who also joined the DMK, has been fielded in the Alangulam constituency. He defeated the DMK candidate Poongothai Aladi Aruna in the 2021 Assembly elections. Mr. Pandian, the son of former Speaker P.H. Pandian, also represented the Cheranmahadevi Assembly constituency. Former Higher Education Minister P. Palaniappan, another AIADMK man, has also been given a ticket by the DMK. He was with the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) launched by T.T.V. Dhinakaran, before joining the DMK. He will again contest from the Pappireddipatti constituency.
