A 16-year-old student sustained grave injuries in a suspected firecracker blast at Villiyappalli near Vadakara in Kozhikode on Thursday (March 26, 2026). Police sources said the palm of the youth was broken in the impact of the explosion. He was admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital following the incident. Meanwhile, the United Democratic Front leaders alleged that it was a crude bomb explosion, and that the police were trying to cover up facts. They also claimed that the student was actively involved in the CPI(M)‘s election campaigns. Alleging attempts by CPI(M) workers to hamper a peaceful election, UDF activists organised a protest rally at Villiyappalli on Friday (March 27, 2026). They also claimed that the latest incident was a continuation of the politics of violence.
