A 66-year-old woman was reunited with her family members on Friday, thanks to SMILE (Support for Marginalised Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise) Scheme, an initiative of Madurai Corporation. According to a press release, Jeyalakshmi left her family about 15 days ago and came to Madurai. With no means of support, she was found at the Mattuthavani Bus Stand. She had resorted to begging to meet her daily needs. The volunteers of Rojavanam identified her vulnerable condition, rescued her and admitted her to Uthangudi rehabilitation centre. Through consistent counselling sessions, Ms. Jeyalakshmi desired to reunite with her family.
