Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar on Friday chaired a preparedness meeting along with the officials of various departments for the Chithirai festival which will begin on April 19. The annual Chithirai festival of Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple would begin on April 19 with the hoisting of the holy flag. Police Commissioner J. Loganathan, Corporation Commissioner Chitra Vijayan, Superintendent of Police B.K. Aravind and other officials were present. According to a press release, the ‘pattabishekam’ would be performed on April 26, followed by ‘dikvijayam’ on April 27. The grand celestial wedding (Thirukalyanam) would be held on April 28 and the car festival on April 29. Lord Kallazhagar’s entry into Vaigai river would be held on May 1.
