Hyderabad Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asserted that the State Government has taken all the necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel and cooking gas to consumers in view of the tensions prevailing in West Asia. A committee headed by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao has been supervising the supply of the commodities from time to time. Similar committees headed by the district collectors are monitoring the situation at the district level. The Chief Minister informed about the measures taken by the State Government to tackle the situation during a video conference conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. Stating that officials were monitoring petrol, diesel and gas availability from the Integrated Command Control Centre constantly, he said steps were initiated to prevent scope for black marketing. Committee headed by senior officials as nodal officers were constituted in this regard. Steps were taken to send commercial gas cylinders to hospitals, schools and old age homes and orphanages on priority basis. Availability of stocks in the petrol and diesel pumps was being monitored on regular basis. The State reported consumption of 36,189 kilo litres of petrol/ diesel a day on an average and the State presently had stocks of 1.88 lakh kilolitres. Legal action was being initiated against those trying to spread rumours on petrol or diesel stocks through social media. At the same time, the State was promoting use of electric vehicles to reduce dependence on conventional fuel.
