Fruit and vegetable carvings of Dindu, the slender loris mascot for Dindigul district for the 2026 Assembly elections, was the main highlight of the voter awareness programme held at the uzhavar santhai in NGO Colony in Dindigul, on Friday.

The awareness programme was inaugurated by Dindigul Collector S. Saravanan in the presence of other officials. Dindu, the slender loris mascot is being displayed at government offices as part of the awareness campaign.

Fruits and vegetables were used to carve various sizes of Dindu attracting a large number of people. Messages on voter awareness were also on display at the venue.

Earlier, to commemorate the establishment of Slender Loris Conservation Centre in Dindigul and create voter awareness, Dindu, a slender loris, was unveiled as the mascot for the district. Dindu is dressed in a traditional Tamil attire, a white shirt and white veshti, and displaying the indelible ink on the index finger.

The Kadavur Slender Loris Sanctuary is spread across Dindigul and Karur districts. The Conservation Centre has been established to support long-term conservation, research and public awareness on Slender Loris.
