Ciza Thomas, Vice-Chancellor (V-C) of Sree Sankaracharaya University of Sanskrit (SSUS), has directed the Registrar to cancel all files approved by former V-C K.K. Geethakumary after the notification issued by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar removing her from the post came into effect.

Dr. Geethakumary was removed with immediate effect by the Governor, who is also the Chancellor of State universities, through a notification issued on March 5. The order was reportedly issued around 4 p.m. The Save University Campaign Committee (SUCC) had lodged a complaint before Dr. Thomas, alleging that around 40 files were approved by the former V-C after the notification was issued.

A preliminary inquiry showed that Prof. Geethakumary had approved the files after the order removing her from the post came into force. Dr. Thomas had asked Registrar Mothi George to conduct a probe on the complaint and initiate follow-up action. It is learnt that the Registrar submitted a report stating that the files were cleared by the former V-C.

Prof. Geethakumary said on Friday (March 27, 2026) that she came across the Governor’s notification around 4.45 p.m on March 5. She added that there were pending files, and that she had cleared them till 6.45 p.m.
