A whopping 62,165 complaints received from depositors of Neomax Properties since June 2023 had kept the Economic Offences Wing in Madurai on its toes. Upon registration of the FIR for cheating of depositors, the EOW took up the laborious task of investigation and arrested as many as 171 accused belonging to Neomax properties and its 45 sister concerns on charges of cheating depositors of their money to the tune of ₹6,727.38 crore. The sleuths had to fire on all cylinders to identify the properties belonging to the cheating companies across 16 districts.
