Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has lauded the Union government’s decision to cut excise duty on petrol and diesel, calling it a timely and people-centric intervention that underscores strong leadership during challenging global conditions.

In a statement on X on Friday, the Chief Minister said, “The true strength of leadership is tested in difficult times.” He observed that India was fortunate to have Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm, providing stability and decisive governance. He noted that reduction in excise duty would help shield citizens from the impact of global fuel price volatility.

Mr. Naidu said the move reflected the Centre’s commitment to prioritising public welfare, especially at a time when many countries were passing on the burden of rising fuel costs to the consumers. “India stands out by putting its people first,” he remarked, welcoming the decision on behalf of the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan welcomed the decision, describing it as a major relief to citizens amid global uncertainties.

In a post on X, Mr. Pawan Kalyan stated that Mr. Modi had once again demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the people by taking proactive steps to ease the burden of fuel costs.

Referring to the impact of geopolitical tensions, including the West Asian conflict, he said the Centre’s decision to reduce excise duty on petrol by ₹10 and completely waive the duty on diesel would protect citizens from escalating prices.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan added that the government had been consistently exploring alternative strategies to ensure fuel availability, while minimising the financial strain on the public. He termed the move commendable and expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, noting that it would provide relief not only to the consumers but also to the oil marketing companies.

The leaders emphasised that the decision reflected the NDA government’s continued focus on balancing economic challenges with public welfare.
