A delegation of youth representing Puducherry in the 29th National Youth Festival, organised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and scheduled to be held in New Delhi from January 9 to 12, was accorded a send-off at the Lok Niwas on Tuesday (January 6, 2026).

According to a press note, Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Speaker R. Selvam, and Minister for Home and Youth Affairs A. Namassivayam flagged off the contingent.

Krishna Mohan Uppu, Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, T. Sudhakar, Director of the Department, and Satishkumar, State Nodal Officer, were also present.

Earlier, the Lt. Governor and the Chief Minister interacted with the youth, listened to their aspirations and extended their best wishes, encouraging them to win the final competitions and bring glory to Puducherry.

The youth, who have won various competitions at the district and State-levels in categories such as quiz, essay writing, public speaking, painting, and folk arts, will participate in the final competitions in New Delhi. Ten students selected from these competitions will participate in an interaction session with the Prime Minister of India, the press note said.
