Twenty-one people have been arrested in Bihar after police launched State-wide raids against hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders amid an ongoing shortage that has disrupted daily life in several districts.

Bihar Director General of Police Vinay Kumar took serious cognisance of the matter and issued directions to all districts to conduct investigations. A senior officer at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) said on Wednesday that raids have been intensified across the State and the situation is being continuously monitored .

“Over the past few days, a special campaign against black marketing and hoarding of LPG cylinders has resulted in the seizure of 419 cylinders and registration of 14 FIRs across more than a dozen districts. During the operation, 21 people involved in black marketing and hoarding have been arrested,” the police officer said.

According to Bihar Police, the highest number of seizures, 261 LPG cylinders, was made in the Forbesganj police station area of Araria district, where two persons were arrested. In Saharsa district, 112 cylinders were seized under the Nagar police station and one person was arrested. In Sheohar district, six cylinders were seized and two persons arrested.
