The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Coimbatore, which is the Special Court for CBI cases, on Thursday convicted five persons in an overseas job recruitment scam dating back to 2005. Judge K. Sivakumar awarded 14 years of imprisonment and a total fine of ₹56 lakh to P.C. Cherian of Mumbai, Francis Arun alias Kiran Chandrasekar of Kochi, Asha Sharlet alias Priya Dharmaraj of Kochi and Santhosh William of Palakkad. Four years of imprisonment was awarded to Preetha Kumari of Kochi.
