Workers installing tin roof sheets on the south tower stretch ahead of the Chithirai festival at Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai. | Photo Credit: MOORTHY G With the Chitirai festival fast approaching, officials from the HR&CE (Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments) Department have initiated a number of works in and around the world famous Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple. The officials said that they have begun installing tin sheets covering the entire south and east tower side, while partial cover would be done on the north and west tower stretches. This would protect pedestrian movement from the scorching heat to a great extent.
