Having graduated from the Integrated Intelligence Training Academy (IITA) in Moinabad after undergoing rigorous training, Hunter began service in Tirupati. Police personnel recall the dog’s special skills in tackling red sanders-related crime and in catching the ‘most wanted’ smugglers. After serving the department for several years, the dog was recently diagnosed with cancer recently and ultimately succumbed to the illness. As instructed by the Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu, the final rites of Hunter were performed in a special manner, during which the staff led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Armed Reserve) D. Srinivasa Rao paid their last respects.
