Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister P. Narayana launched the Legislative Assembly central hall piling works in Amaravati by performing special puja on Thursday.

On the occasion, Mr. Narayana said the Assembly building was being constructed on a site measuring 1.10 million square feet, consisting of a basement-plus-three floors with a 250-metre high iconic tower on top of it overlooking the capital region.

The architectural design of the building would reflect the rich cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh and it would have four blocks.

Referring to the recent fire accidents in Amaravati, Mr. Narayana said they were being investigated, while pointing out that there had been instances of agricultural fields being set on fire when Amaravati was announced as the Capital to instil fear among the farmers with ill intentions.

He criticised the YSR Congress Party government for causing hardship to the farmers and expressed his deep gratitude to the farmers for their resilience and continued cooperation in building Amaravati.
