File photo of Maharashtra Congress chief Harshvardhan Sapkal. | Photo Credit: ANI Maharashtra Congress president Harshvardhan Sapkal on Thursday (March 26, 2026) demanded NCP leader and Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal’s resignation after a video allegedly showing him with a transgender person at government property went viral. “The objectionable video is not just an isolated incident, it reflects the moral decline in Maharashtra’s politics,” said Mr. Sapkal, adding that it is shocking to see such unethical behaviour of a public representative in whom people have invested their faith and money. “This incident is not merely a violation of personal boundaries, but a blot on the moral fabric of public life. There is a basic expectation that a minister elected by the people will adhere to at least a minimum standard of ethics. However, this video clearly shows a complete breakdown of those expectations,” Mr. Sapkal posted on X.
