Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Ltd. (BSWML) has flagged violations of waste handling norms by contractors and field staff. According to a letter from BSWML to all its officials and contractors, divisional officers have allegedly been compelling auto-tipper drivers and helpers to carry out waste segregation work, a move that goes against the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2000 and 2016. The letter noted that workers have expressed strong dissatisfaction, with some expressing their willingness to quit, claiming they are being treated like rag-pickers.
