Training held for zonal election officers in Thoothukudi

A training session for zonal officers who will be working in six assembly constituencies of Thoothukudi was held on Wednesday, in view of the upcoming Tamil Nadu legislative assembly elections.

The Tamil Nadu legislative assembly elections are scheduled to be held on April 23. In preparations for the meeting various officials have been appointed and are being given continuous training.

Accordingly 153 zonal officers have been appointed across six assembly constituencies in Thoothukudi district.

Thoothukudi District Collector and District Election Officer K. Elambahavath presided over the session and provided various instructions to the zonal officers.

The key responsibilities of the zonal officers include: transporting Electronic Voting Machines (EVM), Election forms, materials to polling stations on the day prior to polling, providing replacement machines immediately in case of any malfunctioning during voting, addressing any issues at polling stations and ensuring the safe transportation of EVMs to the counting centres after the completion of polling.
