Purandeswari on Wednesday appealed to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to provide alternative road access to farmers before the construction of the boundary wall of the railway land in the mandals of Kovvur and Chagallu in East Godavari district. Ms. Purandeswari on Wednesday met Mr. Vaishnaw, and explained the ordeal farmers would face accessing their fields along the boundary of the railways land for agricultural activities and transportation of agriculture produce. “The present proposal of a boundary wall, without alternative access, severely disrupts agricultural activity and impacts the livelihood of a large number of small and marginal farmers in the area,” said Ms. Purandeswari. The railway authorities have demarked its boundary between km 564/42 to km 568/24 on the Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam railway 6 line for the construction of the boundary wall. In her representation, Ms. Purandeswari also appealed for a field-level inspection and a fresh survey of the railway land and boundary, as claims on the boundary fall within the land of the local farmers. The access from the villages of Pasivedala of Kovvur mandal and Gowripalli of Chagallu mandal would be cut-off if the boundary is constructed by the railway authorities.
