Parliament member from Bhongir, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy urged the Centre to facilitate the immediate transfer of ₹1,270 crore dues from the Andhra Pradesh government to the Telangana government. Bringing the matter to the attention of the Union Government in the Lok Sabha under Rule 377, the MP stated that during the bifurcation of the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh in 2014, the total outstanding liabilities of the Andhra Pradesh Power Finance Corporation stood at ₹5,894.60 crore. As per the agreed ratio, 59.54% of the liabilities were to be borne by Andhra Pradesh and 40.46% by Telangana. However, he pointed out that in violation of the agreed terms, the Andhra Pradesh government imposed an additional burden of ₹1,052.70 crore on the Telangana Power Finance Corporation. Despite lodging protests, the Telangana Power Finance Corporation paid a total of ₹1,270 crore up to August 2024. Of this amount, ₹481.82 crore constituted the principal, while ₹788.18 crore was paid as interest. Subsequently, the Telangana government approached the Centre seeking reimbursement of the excess amount. Although proposals pertaining to the issue were forwarded to the Union Ministry concerned, they are still pending consideration. Highlighting Telangana’s financial interests and overall development, Mr. Reddy appealed, through the Speaker, to the Union Finance Minister to take immediate steps to ensure the transfer of ₹1,270 crore from the Andhra Pradesh Power Finance Corporation to Telangana Published – March 25, 2026 03:06 pm IST Share this: Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on Threads (Opens in new window) Threads Click to share on X (Opens in new window) X Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email More Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window) Pocket Click to share on Mastodon (Opens in new window) Mastodon Click to share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window) Nextdoor Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Like this:Like Loading...
