First randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines for the seven Assembly constituencies were carried out on Tuesday.

The process was done in the presence of District Election Officer and District Collector N.O. Sukhaputra, General Election Observers Udayan Mishra and Anupkumar Yadav, and representatives of recognised political parties, a statement said.

The exercise of allotting the 2,396 EVMs and 2,596 VVPATs for all the seven Assembly segments of the district were done through computer.

The statement added that a total of 322 ballot units (BUs), 322 control units (CUs), and 349 VVPAT machines were allotted for 269 polling stations of Rajapalayam Assembly Constituency.

For the 308 polling stations in Srivilliputtur Assembly Constituency, 369 BUs and 369 CUs and 400 VVPAT machines were allotted.

The 291 polling stations of Sattur Assembly Constituency have been allocated 349 BUs, 349 CUs and 378 VVPAT machines, the statement said.

A total of 345 BUs and 345 CUs and 374 VVPAT machines have been allotted for 288 polling stations in Sivakasi Assembly constituency.

Virudhunagar Assembly Constituency has got 337 BUs, 337 CUs and 365 VVPAT machines for its 281 polling stations.

The 270 polling stations of Aruppukottai Assembly Constituency have been provided with 324 BUs and 324 CUs and 351 VVPAT machines.

Tiruchuli Assembly Constituency that has got 292 polling booths has been allotted 350 BUs, 350 CUs and 379 VVPAT machines.

District Revenue Officer R. Ananthi, Personal Assistant (Elections) to District Collector Somasundara Srinivasan, Election Tahsildar Srinivasan, Returning Officers of all the Assembly constituencies were present.

The EVMs and VVPATs would be segregated according to the randomisation exercise and taken to the respective storage points of the Assembly constituencies by the Returning Officers on Wednesday.
