The President of the Republic of Mauritius Dharambeer Gokhool on Wednesday (January 7, 2026) offered prayers at the hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala.

He was accorded a traditional reception by Endowments Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Chairman B.R. Naidu, and Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal on his arrival at the main entrance of the hill temple and later escorted into the sanctum sanctorum where he stood for about ten minutes in front of the presiding deity and paid obeisance.

In adherence to the age-old traditions, he first prayed at Lord Bhu Varahaswamy temple ahead of visiting the hill temple.

His visit underscores the enduring spiritual bond between India and Mauritius, particularly through shared civilisational and religious traditions.

Later at Sri Ranganayakula mandapam inside the temple, the scholars rendered Veda Ashirvachanam invoking the divine blessings upon him and his entourage.

On behalf of TTD, EO Anil Kumar Singhal honoured President Gokhool with the Shesha Vastram and presented sacred theertha prasadam, along with a portrait of the deity, temple calendar and traditional panchagavya products, symbolising the spiritual grace of the hill temple.

Later he also paid a visit to the TTD-run SV Veda Patasala in Dharmagiri about 4km from the temple.

Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, Collector S. Venkateswarlu, CVSO Muralikrishna, SP Subbarayudu, and other officials were prominent among others present.
