A 59-year-old man has been arrested in Nolambur for allegedly cheating a tenant of ₹20 lakh by leasing out a flat that was under mortgage and facing seizure for non-repayment of loan. According to the police, when the complainant Deepak, 29, of Cuddalore, was searching for a rental house in Chennai last year, a broker introduced him to Rajagopalan of Mogappair West, who claimed to be the owner of an apartment at Panneer Nagar in Mogappair. Rajagopalan agreed to lease the flat for ₹20 lakh, following which Deepak paid the amount and entered into an agreement with him.
