Two injured spotted deer from the Mettupalayam Forest Range in the Coimbatore Forest Division are undergoing treatment at the Wildlife Transit and Treatment Centre at Pethikuttai.

According to Forest Department officials, on March 16, 2026, a two-year-old female spotted deer was rescued from the Mettupalayam Forest Range with an injury to its hind leg after getting entangled in a PVC pipe. The animal was shifted to the facility, where veterinary doctors provided treatment, and it has since been placed in a designated enclosure for herbivores under continuous monitoring.
