Mahanagar Gas Ltd. (MGL), a City Gas Distribution (CGD) company, has assured uninterrupted supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for households and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for transport across its geographical areas in Maharashtra and Karnataka. In addition, the company announced offers for its domestic and commercial PNG consumers, aimed at encouraging the use and adoption of PNG. In line with the Natural Gas (Supply Regulation) Order, 2026 dated March 9, 2026, Domestic PNG and CNG have been recognised as the highest priority sector, the company said. It said it has taken measures to maintain consistent supply so that customers continue to receive reliable and safe fuel for daily use. This would be applicable across all its geographical areas (GAs) – Mumbai, Thane, Mira-Bhayander, Navi Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Chitradurg, Davengere, Latur and Dharashiv. Alongside supply assurance, MGL has introduced a set of customer-focused initiatives to accelerate PNG adoption in the GAs. For domestic customers, the company is offering free gas worth ₹500 to all new registrations from March 16 to April 30, 2026, ₹1,000 adjustment in gas bills per customer from new buildings where penetration level is more than 60%. Besides, it is offering an instant discount of ₹500 per customer for web registrations and waiver of minimum charges during periods of non-usage and zero upfront registration charges (to be introduced soon) wherein payments will be made only after conversion. For commercial customers, MGL is waiving registration charges. The company will also undertake downstream infrastructure at its own cost. These benefits are aimed at making PNG more accessible while maintaining high standards of service and reliability. MGL remains focused on delivering dependable solutions that support households and business establishments alike, the company said.
