Three persons were arrested for flying kites using the banned manja thread and for selling them in Vanagaram and Virugambakkam. A 17-year-old was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Police seized around 450 kites and six spools of manja thread. On Sunday evening, Mohammed Rasheed, 26, sustained injuries after a manja thread struck him while he was riding a two-wheeler with his brother on the Maduravoyal flyover. Based on his complaint, a case was registered at Vanagaram Police Station. After investigation, the police arrested Brain Antony, 22, of Vanagaram. A 17-year-old who accompanied him was also questioned. One kite and manja thread were seized from them.
