Election Observers review poll preparedness in Kallakurichi

Election observers for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections reviewed preparedness in Kallakurichi district at a meeting held on Monday.

The meeting, chaired by District Election Officer and Collector M.S. Prasanth, was attended by general observers Chuchi Tyagi, N. Siyad and Police observer Ajay Linda.

Officials made detailed presentations on voter strength, polling stations, and identified sensitive booths. Arrangements relating to flying squads, surveillance teams, control rooms, seizure of cash and materials, and complaints received through cVIGIL and SUVIDHA were also discussed.

The observers held discussions on the overall arrangements, including stepping up vigil at check-posts in border areas to prevent smuggling of cash, liquor and gifts. The various static surveillance teams, flying squads and other monitoring committees were asked to discharge their duties with due diligence, and officials were asked to be thorough with their duties and responsibilities and fulfil their mandate.

The DEO urged all officials, nodal officers, and polling staff to take measures to conduct the Assembly elections in a fair manner, ensuring voters exercise their franchise without any threats or intimidation.
