The Yadgir Rural Police have arrested three persons, including a woman, in connection with the alleged murder of a man after he was suspiciously found dead near KEB Kalyan Mantap on Hosalli Road on the outskirts of Yadgir city on Tuesday (March 24). The victim has been identified as Sagar Babu Rathod, 28, of Chamanalli Tanda in Yadgir taluk. He used to drive a rented autorickshaw from Tanda to Yadgir every day. The police identified the accused as Reddy Balaram Rathod, Mahesh, and Pooja Sagar Rathod, wife of the victim and mother of two children. All are residents of Chamanalli Tanda. According to the FIR, Pooja had an illicit relationship with the accused, Reddy, for years. Despite being counselled by elders, they did not do so. At 6.30 p.m. on March 22, the victim came to Yadgir upon receiving a call from the second accused, Mahesh. He didn’t return home even late at night, and his phone was switched off after some time too, though Pooja had tried to contact him several times to enquire about when he would return home. On March 23, the complainant, Boli Bayi Babu Rathod, was informed by a Tanda local that her son was found dead near KEB Kalyan Mantap. She rushed to the spot and saw that the autorickshaw was overturned on a drain and that her son Sagar had fallen to the ground. He had blood injuries on his head and other body parts. She lodged a complaint suspecting her son’s murder by Reddy in association with Mahesh. She further suspected that her daughter-in-law Pooja was involved in the conspiracy owing to her illicit relationship with Reddy. She alleged that Reddy and Mahesh murdered her son by hitting his head with a hard object, and soght action against them and Pooja. Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar visited the spot and instructed the police officers to investigate the case. The police launched an investigation immediately after registering the case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and arrested the accused when prima facie evidence showed their involvement in the crime.
