Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday (March 24) said the Central government has resolved issues related to foreign funding under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, allowing the Rural Development Trust (RDT) to resume receiving overseas funds and continue its services to the poor across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In a post on X, expressing gratitude, Mr. Naidu thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Central government for addressing the long-pending issue. RDT has been providing a wide range of services to underprivileged communities across thousands of villages in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. However, earlier restrictions on foreign funds under FCRA had disrupted the organisation’s operations, affecting its outreach and welfare programmes, he said. Following representations made to the Union Home Ministry, explaining the significance of RDT’s services, the Centre took special initiative to resolve the issue. With the latest approval granted under FCRA, the organisation can now legally receive foreign contributions, ensuring continuity and expansion of its activities. Thanking the Centre for considering the State government’s request, he noted that lakhs of beneficiaries who depend on RDT’s services would greatly benefit from this decision.
