Superintendent of Police P. Jagadeesh carried out surprise inspections in key areas of Anantapur city late on Monday (March 23) night as part of ‘Operation Night Safety’ aimed at strengthening night-time security in the district.

Mr. Jagadeesh conducted inspections in Srikantam Circle, RTC Bus Stand, and Railway Station during which he reviewed the night deployment of police personnel and interacted with on-duty personnel to assess their performance. He instructed officials and personnel to ensure public safety so that citizens can move without fear.

The SP asked officials to increase surveillance in crowded areas to monitor suspicious individuals, patrolling by police vehicles, and the Beat constables were instructed to remain alert in all key locations.

He asked officials to give top priority to women’s safety and to be active during night hours. He wanted regular monitor of functioning of CCTV cameras in various locations and officials were told to fix any issues immediately.

Asking the police officials to take up drink-and-drive checks strictly, the SP said parents of youths found loitering unnecessarily at night be called for counselling. Mr. Jagadeesh asked officials to carry out surprise inspections in hotels and take strict action against those operating beyond permitted hours without authorization.

Mr. Jagadeesh said the main goal of Operation Night Safety is to control crime and enhance the sense of security among the public. The SP clarified that such night inspections will continue regularly. On the occasion, the SP requested the citizens to immediately inform the police if they notice any suspicious activities.
