Theni District Election Officer and Collector Ranjeet Singh on Monday chaired a meeting with representatives of political parties regarding the upcoming Assembly elections.

The Collector said in the four Assembly constituencies in the district: Andipatti, Periyakulam, Bodinayakanur and Cumbum, there would be a total of 1,394 polling stations.

The Collector said the public grievance meeting, farmers meeting and other camps would be suspended till the end of elections. The public could drop their petitions in the drop box at the District Collectorate.

All the political parties and candidates were instructed not to stick posters or indulge in wall writings in public or private spaces in urban areas. In rural areas, private properties could be used for advertisements only with the permission of the owner and if it does not cause public nuisance. Political parties should get the prior permission from the Returning Officer for public meetings.

A total of 13 flying squads and 13 static surveillance teams have been deployed across the four constituencies. A control room has been set up and in case of complaints people can call the control room at 1800 425 4269 or email thenimcc2026@gmail.com.

The public can report election violations by uploading photos or videos directly via cVIGIL App. Media Certification and Monitoring Committee has also been set up to monitor election violations in the media.

All candidates and political parties were instructed to strictly adhere to the Election Commission guidelines to ensure the election is conducted in a fair and peaceful manner without any law and order issues.
