Member of Parliament C. Robert Bruce has submitted a memorandum with Union Minister for Atomic Energy and Space Jitendra Singh urging the Minister to give priority to the local youths in the recruitment for various positions of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project. In his memorandum, he said the KKNPP, after commissioning 2 X 1,000 MW nuclear power plants at Kudankulam, was constructing four more units with similar capacity. When the anti-KKNPP agitation by the locals started even before the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) could start the work and it reached its crescendo in 2011, the locals were pacified with the promise that they would be given preference in job opportunities in KKNPP.
