Around 3,000 personnel from the Hyderabad Police will be deployed for security arrangements during the Sri Rama Navami Shobha Yatra in the city, with authorities stating that all departments are prepared to conduct the procession in a peaceful manner. City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar reviewed the arrangements at a coordination meeting held at Draupadi Gardens in Sitaram Bagh on Monday, March 23, along with GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan. Officials discussed logistical planning, security measures, and coordination among departments for the procession. The Commissioner said that the procession, which began in 2010, has gained nationwide recognition and will proceed from Sitaram Bagh to Hanuman Vyayamshala. He said that the entire route will be monitored through CCTV cameras and drones, while specialised crime teams and SHE Teams will be deployed to prevent offences such as chain snatching. Referring to last year’s delays caused by vehicle breakdowns, he said measures are being put in place to ensure smooth movement of traffic this year. Organisers have been advised to begin the procession at 1 p.m. and conduct a trial run in advance to avoid congestion, particularly on narrow stretches. Officials also directed that only standard sound systems be used instead of DJs, and that content played during the procession should not affect communal harmony. Permission from the police has been made mandatory for the use of private drones. GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan said road repairs and streetlight installations along the route have been completed. He also advised organisers to ensure that the height of vehicles participating in the procession is regulated. Mr. Karnan, along with GHMC officials, later inspected the route designated for the procession. Senior police and civic officials were present at the meeting.
