Unaccounted cash of ₹60.63 lakh, along with 4.2 litres of liquor, 28 grams of narcotics and precious metals, were seized in Chennai over March 21 and 22 during intensified election surveillance. Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams intercepted the consignments during vehicle checks, with major cash seizures reported from Virugambakkam (₹34.75 lakh), Thiru.Vi.K. Nagar (₹7.78 lakh), Egmore (₹2.86 lakh) and Harbour (₹4 lakh). The confiscated items have been deposited in the government treasury.
