The Sulur police have registered two cases in connection with a fight between two families triggered by an alleged academic rivalry between two students at Peedampalli near Sulur in Coimbatore district. According to the police, the two – a boy belonging to a dominant caste and a girl belonging to a Scheduled Caste – were Class XI students of a government higher secondary school near Sulur.
