The death toll due to consumption of milk adulterated with ethylene glycol rose to 16 with the death of P. Nageswara Rao, 72, on Saturday. Nageswara Rao died at a private hospital where he had been undergoing treatment for acute renal failure since February 18. In an official release, East Godavari District Collector Kirthi Chekuri said three more patients, including two infants, are still undergoing treatment for acute renal failure in Rajamahendravaram. As many as 20 people developed acute renal failure after consuming milk adulterated with ethylene glycol on February 15 and 16. The contaminated milk had been supplied by the same vendor.
